Old Mulkey Meetinghouse
The Old Mulkey Meetinghouse, erected in 1804, is the oldest freestanding log meetinghouse in the Commonwealth. Within its walls, 3rd generation Separate Baptist preacher, John Mulkey, took his famous stand against Calvinism in an effort to restore the congregation to “New Testament” Christianity. Now the focus of a Kentucky State Park, this location offers something for everyone! Visit the grave of Hannah Boone (Daniel’s sister) while enjoying the cemetery’s numerous interpretative panels related to pioneer, religious and site history. Have a picnic! Complete the park’s quest! Enjoy the small research library, Storybook Trail, playground and more!

Testimonials
“Nestled in the heart of Monroe County, Old Mulkey Meetinghouse offers visitors a chance to step back in time to explore some of Kentucky’s pioneer religious history. Here, one can learn about the struggles of church members and preachers as they sought to bring religion to rural Americans and grapple with the interpretation of scripture. The cruciform construction of the log meetinghouse is one of the historic site’s iconic features. Towering trees and native plants surround visitors as they walk among the final resting places of early church leaders as well as a number of Revolutionary War veterans. Old Mulkey Meetinghouse is a perfect place to step away from the hustle and bustle of modern life to experience the past.” Sam Terry
“Serene, beautiful, spiritual." Lydia Simpson
“Great history lesson on the “Restoration Movement” among churches in late 1700’s and early 1800’s.” Larry Fleming
